Birmingham City are closing in on the signing of giant Valencia striker Nikola Zigic.
The Blues are reported to have agreed a fee in the region of £5million for the 6ft 8in hitman, who has been linked with several moves to the Premier League in recent transfer windows.
Zigic has been a peripheral figure at the Spanish club during the past two seasons and is deemed surplus to requirements amid their ongoing financial difficulties.
Manager Alex McLeish appears to have opted for Zigic ahead of the likes of West Ham's Carlton Cola and Bobby Zamora of Fulham.
The 29-year-old could now join the Blues before heading off to the World Cup in South Africa with Serbia.
Zigic, who began his career at Red Star Belgrade and has also played for Racing Santander in Spain's top-flight, has scored 16 goals in 42 international appearances.
"There is a lot of interest in Zigic," said the player's agent, Milan Calasan, earlier in the month.
"Ten or 15 clubs have called me about him but I think they have been shocked by the money wanted by Valencia.
"He has always said would be interested in a move to England and if he was to go there it would have to be the right club that understands his characteristics."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
