da spicy bet:
da prosport bet: Chelsea boss Andre Villas Boas has admitted that his side may make a bid for Bolton defender Gary Cahill in the January transfer window, but has quashed rumours that he wants to bring Jack Rodwell to Stamford Bridge.
The England international centre back is in the last year of his contract at the Reebok Stadium, and Tottenham and Arsenal are both monitoring the situation closely also.
The Portuguese coach has stated an interest in Cahill, as Alex looks set to leave the London club in the new year.
“We are aware of Gary’s contractual situation. He’s an interesting player for the club,” Villas Boas stated at a press conference.
“You know that we have taken a decision this season regarding the central defenders, regarding Alex.
“We haven’t decided yet what we are going to do with the Alex situation. We have to make the wisest decision, be it Alex, be it Cahill,” he confirmed.
Meanwhile, the British press have been linking Chelsea with a January bid for Everton’s Jack Rodwell, but Villas Boas has distanced himself with a move for the midfield battler.
“I saw that we’d been linked with him. First, it’s important to clarify that it’s unfair that I constantly comment on other players.
“In midfield, we don’t need players. Rodwell has been playing there this season.
“Midfield is not a sector where we’re desperate to strengthen our squad. So at the moment those stories are false,” he concluded.
