da roleta: With just a week to go before the Championship season kicks off, one would hope that the majority of the teams competing in the division next season are ready for the new campaign. In today’s Championship transfer roundup there is a report on the future of Leeds’ Bailey Peacock-Farrell, West Brom edge closer to the signing of Romaine Sawyers and Fulham’s Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa is in talks with a La Liga club.
Burnley eye Peacock-Farrell
Report: According to Friday’s edition of ABC Sevilla (via Sport Witness), Leeds are looking to sell shot-stopper Bailey Peacock-Farrell to Burnley and want to replace him with another young goalkeeper. Marca had previously reported that it was, in fact, Kiko Casilla who will be moving on from Elland Road this summer.
Verdict: At just 22 years of age, Peacock-Farrell has his best years ahead of him, especially considering the longer time-span of the career of a goalkeeper. He made 29 appearances for the Whites last season but became a back-up option once Casilla was signed from Real Madrid in January. The Northern Ireland international has already made it clear that he wants regular football next season, and if that means leaving the Yorkshire club, then he would be open to it. Tom Heaton’s Turf Moor future is in doubt, but Sean Dyche also has Nick Pope and Joe Hart at his disposal. Therefore, not only would Peacock-Farrell face a similar situation with the Clarets as he is currently in under Marcelo Bielsa, it would also be poor foresight from Andrea Radrizzani to allow such a promising player to leave.

West Brom agree Sawyers fee
Report: Sky Sports understands that West Brom have had a bid accepted for Brentford captain Romaine Sawyers. The fee is in the region of £3m, with the 27-year-old expected to complete a medical on Friday ahead of a move to the Hawthorns.
Verdict: Sawyers has attracted a fair bit of attention during this transfer window, with Leeds and Celtic also linked, but it appears that Slaven Bilic will soon add his fifth signing as Baggies manager. The St. Kitts and Nevis international is not much of a goalscorer – not once did he get on the scoresheet last season – but he provides a creative threat which saw him contribute seven assists in the past campaign. New loan signing Filip Krovinovic will be provided with competition by Sawyers, and the latter’s extensive Championship and League One experience will be an asset to his boss. He also represents value for money, as £3m will not break the bank.

Zambo-Anguissa to make Villareal switch
Report: AS are claiming that Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa is in talks with Villareal ahead of a potential move from Fulham. A deal is reportedly very close, and the 23-year-old is already in Spain to complete a medical. It is understood that it will initially be a loan with a non-mandatory purchase option.
Verdict: Fulham’s disappointing season last time out should serve as a warning to all newly-promoted Premier League sides: signing a host of good-quality players does not necessarily equate to top-tier survival. Zambo Anguissa was one of 15 players, who cost a combined total of £104.85m, to join the Cottagers last summer, yet he and the others were unable to make a telling difference. The Cameroon international was playing for Marseille before joining the London outfit, so it makes sense that he wants to play at a higher level. The fact that it is just a short-term move is surprising, though, as one would have thought that Scott Parker and co would have wanted to make back some of the £22.3m they spent on the midfielder.
