Thomas Tuchel's options at centre-back have diminished due to injuries, with Dayot Upamecano the latest to be ruled out and Matthijs de Ligt already absent.
Bayern had initially planned to bring Jerome Boateng back to the club, but eventually opted against going through with it following backlash from the club's fans.
As Sokratis is a free agent, the German giants will be able to sign him immediately despite being outside of the transfer window.
DID YOU KNOW?
Sokratis played under Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel during their time at Borussia Dortmund. The defender made 81 appearances under the German coach, more games than he played with any other manager.
He featured almost 200 times overall for Dortmund before he left to join Arsenal in 2018.
