da roleta: It would certainly seem that the much rejuvenated former England International Emile Heskey is replicating some of the finest football of his career at the moment. The Aston Villa forward has scored “four goals from nine games. Only once before has he started a season faster, at Leicester in 1998/99. It seems as though the 32 year-old is reinventing himself as something of a goal-scoring machine”
da dobrowin: On Sunday Villa host sworn enemy Birmingham City and should big Emile add another goal to this seasons tally he will have equalled his entire output for last season. Why such a resurge in form big man? Credit must be given to Gerard Houllier who has injected some much needed confidence into his work horse like bustling centre forward. With Houllier likening the much maligned Heskey to Premier League superstar Didier Drogba there is know wonder the former England International is firing on all cylinders.
This new found confidence has undoubtedly proved to be the needed catalyst to Heskey’s sudden threat to goal. This form has also seen him come into the minds of the Aston Villa faithful…finally! With “Aston Villa unable to break through against Burnley and their Carling Cup fourth round inexorably bound for extra time, a Villa supporter bellowed for Emile Heskey. “We need a goal,” came the explanation. After nearly two years, Heskey the striker has finally registered in the supporters’ conscious.”

Apparently it was the same come Monday. “The former England forward risked repetitive strain injury as he was required to sign so many autographs at an open training session at Villa Park. Supporters who had come to watch the squad in their half-term flocked to him in recognition of his form this season, leading Gerard Houllier to accept that the supporters have finally come around.”
It doesn’t seem all that long ago that Heskey was the brunt of much harsh criticism and in reality his form towards the end of last season was poor and his scoring record was something quite rotten. However, with the fans and the new manager currently on side it I hope that Emile can prolong this rich vein of form that he currently finds himself in. Furthermore, I leave you with this to ponder…
“It is already promising for supporters that he has equalled his start to the 2000/01 season, when he scored — wait for it — 23 goals for Liverpool.”
Can he do it reach the 23 goal mark? Is Heskey a poor mans Didier Drogba? Or am I being to kind to this once goal shy work horse?
