da bet7: As reported by The Liverpool Echo, Everton boss Sam Allardyce has backed Davy Klaassen to have a future at the club, despite his struggles to fit in to life at Goodison Park this season.
What’s the story?
da gbg bet: Klaassen was reported to be on the verge of a move to Serie A side Napoli at the end of the January transfer window, although it ultimately fell through.
Similarly, Sandro Ramirez left the club on loan last month, heading back to La Liga to play for Sevilla.
Even though they’ve struggled to break into the first team since arriving on Merseyside last summer, manager Sam Allardyce has explained it’s a player’s second season that will truly determine their long-term future at the club.
As quoted by The Liverpool Echo, the former England manager said:
It’s season two that really counts. You want them to work in season. You can’t be patient because nobody will let you be patient but in year two, who knows. We could very well have a different player at the start of next season and, for him [Klaassen], he’s got to fight to see if he can get in this season and that may be the case later down the line.
Can the out-of-favour duo prove themselves and find a regular start at Goodison Park next season?
What are their chances?
Signed for a reported £23.6m last June, Davy Klaassen arrived from Ajax with plenty of hype during a summer of extraordinary spending at Goodison Park.
Making just four Premier League appearances though, he’s failed to deliver on the fee or that promise, although you could argue he’s not been given adequate opportunities.
If he can remain professional and work hard in training, then he can still shine for the Toffees. His form for Ajax was superb last term, scoring 20 goals and creating 12 assists. That kind of ability doesn’t just disappear.
Sandro is in a similar boat, after a season of excellent scoring in La Liga, he’s been given limited opportunities in the Premier League.
Players can’t be expected to fit in at a new club without trusting them to perform over extended periods and perhaps some of the blame for their flop moves is on the managers that have been at the club this season.
Fans will be hoping to see more of both in time.
