da esport bet: Phil Hay has once again quashed a transfer rumour before it picked up any steam as he stated that Fernando Llorente would not be signing for Leeds United this summer.
The Spaniard’s contract with Tottenham Hotspur expires at the end of June, and Whites fans were hoping that the club could pick up a bargain by bringing him in.
Hopeful
This rumour was really more hope from the supporters than any genuine interest from either the club or the player.
The rumours stemmed from the fact that Llorente enjoyed arguably the best season of his entire career under Marcelo Bielsa at Athletic Bilbao, and many hoped that he would want to work under the Argentine again.
Indeed, he scored 17 goals in 32 league games during the Argentine’s first season in charge at San Mames, and if Leeds could sign him, he would immediately become one of the best strikers in the Championship.
But this is a man who could play in a Champions League final this weekend, and Hay is right when he says that the transfer is unfeasible.
Unfeasible
The transfer window is, of course, one of the most exciting periods of time for any football fan, and with Leeds going through such a vital period in the club’s history the fans have every right to get caught up in all the drama.
But in order to avoid having their hopes dashed supporters need to be more logical about which transfer rumours they believe.
James Milner and Fernando Llorente were obviously not going to sign due to their incredible wages and high stature within the game, but people on Twitter still allowed themselves to get carried away.
The same thing is already starting to happen with other Premier League free agents. Andy Carroll and Adrian have been the subject of speculation on Twitter, but if Whites fans pieced together everything they know about the upcoming transfer window, then they would realise these signings will most likely never come to fruition.
